With an annual turnover of more than 100 million, Timbmet is one of Europe’s largest timber importers and distributors. The company is considered a global market leader in its commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation.
The challenge
Cognition was appointed to rebrand the entire organisation following an ambitious acquisition programme. Despite their stature and reputation, many potential customers were unaware of the full range of products and services on offer.

The solution
After a thorough brand audit, Cognition developed key messages for different aspects of the brand to ensure consistency of message across all communications. The new brand leveraged Timbmet’s reputation as an innovator while direct mail and advertising activity raised awareness of their substantial portfolio.
We designed and built a new website to support this and have since developed an innovative online specifying tool. A full programme of PR has been maintained throughout, including internal communications, media relations, exhibition support, sponsorship and speaker opportunities.
When the trade Burmese teak trade hit the headlines, we liaised with the BBC, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, Al Jazeera and CNN to schedule interviews for Timbmet representatives.
